Deanna A.
Private tutor in Landrum, SC
Education
I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2012 with honors. I graduated with a major in Mathematics and I obtained duel minors in Education and Psychology. I graduated with a GPA of 3.918. I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, so I received a lot of extra training on how to teach and tutor students. We had to have double the seat time of a regular education major.
Experience
I have taught mathematics in public schools in Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as well as Henderson County Public Schools for the last 8 years. I have taught a range of courses from Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Statistics, AFM and Math 1, 2, and 3. I also tutored students in all of the above courses as well as in Precalculus.

Hobbies
I got married in the fall of 2015 and my husband and I decided to move back to the mountains to be closer to family. I coached Varsity Volleyball in Charlotte, so I know how to relate to students in a coach like manner if needed. I played intramural volleyball in college and was also a member of the dance team. I have been involved in lots of different clubs and things throughout my academic career such as Yearbook staff and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I think it is important for a student to be involved in things they enjoy doing. I also feel that it is important that we make learning relate-able and also fun. If we do that students are more likely to be successful. Also I think organization is the key to a student's success as well. Which is why I make it a point to help my students learn strategies to maintain organization in their notes and binders.
